Be Safely Coeliac

You may have heard the news last week that a study of cafes in Melbourne revealed many of their ‘so-called’ gluten free products in fact contained gluten.

Anyone with coeliac disease or a gluten sensitivity will know that one of the overriding emotions (and one often not addressed in the media) we feel on a daily basis is fear.

Fear around eating is not fun. Eating is a basic human need and to know that you can’t eat freely is one thing, but to know you will get really sick if you make the wrong move is another.

It’s really serious and suppliers need to take the plight of gluten sensitive consumers more seriously.

We wanted you to know you are safe with us.

Our products comply with the Australian Food Standard Codes requirements for ‘gluten free’ (i.e. they contain ‘no detectable gluten’ using the most sensitive test for gluten currently commercially available). We have our products tested by a NATA accredited independent laboratory and also have strict procedures in place to ensure our products comply. Our products are also endorsed by Coeliac Australia.’

To show how much you can trust us we asked our quality control department to let us share a sneak peak of one of our private documents. This is just one of MANY protocols used on a daily basis by our factory:

Raw Materials:
Prior to the purchase of any raw materials for gluten free products, a review of the specification must occur and there must not be any cross contact for gluten or ‘may contain’ statements.

Storage and Warehouse:
Receive the raw materials as usual and store in gluten free warehouse allocated area. Label pallet with Gluten Free.

Scheduling:
When scheduling production, only products that do not contain gluten can be manufactured at the same time.

Pre-production:
Prior to commencing any gluten free products all equipment must be cleaned and sanitised and rinsed/flushed with 70% alcohol.
Checked with internal gluten test.
If the test comes back positive for gluten the equipment will need to be cleaned again.
If the test is negative for gluten, than the production can commence.

Kitchen:
Prior to batch making commencing test the surface of equipment with in-house gluten test.
If the test comes back positive for gluten the equipment will need to be cleaned again.
If the test is negative for gluten, than the production can commence.

Product Release:
Whilst waiting for results from external testing laboratory all stock is placed on hold.
Once the results have been received for the Finished Product the results are reviewed and released if there is no gluten detected.
If the results are showing detection of gluten this product will not be released.

Our team is dedicated to providing 100% safely gluten free meals, delivered to your door. Prices start from $7.50 for breakfasts and $9.90 for main meals, finger food and desserts.

  • I have Coeliac and eating out can be challenging at times. That is when some food: outlets, clubs and hotel kitchen staff, have limited and no knowlege of gluten free.
